Rainstorms destroy houses, properties in Akure and its environments

Many buildings and shops were destroyed by rainstorms in Akure City and its environment in Ondo State on Friday and Saturday.
The rainstorms in the affected areas have rendered many residents homeless and properties worth millions of naira were destroyed.
Some of the affected places  are Akure Mother and child hospitals at the state capital,  sone houses at oba adesida road ,Oba Ile, Okitipupa, Igbotako, Ilutitun, Ikoya and Omotoso among others. 
It was gathered that some houses and shops in the affected areas had their roofs blown off by the rainstorms while many electric poles and Internet masts fell on buildings and some of the poles fell across the roads.

However, there was no report of a death.

Child right act: We have established family court ―Ondo chief judge

THE new Chief Judge of Ondo State, Justice Olutoyin Akeredolu, has announced the introduction of Family Court in the State to ensure accelerated hearing on cases relating to violence against women and children. Akeredolu who stated this during her inauguration as the 11th Chief Judge of the State, said the Family Court with its specialised jurisdiction in child rights and family matters, with a full complement of the registry, is now fully operational in the state. Ondo Amotekun Arrests Four-Man Kidnap Syndicate In Akure

  Officials of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun have arrested a four-man kidnap syndicate in Akure, the state capital. The commander of Amotekun in the state, Adetunji Adeleye, while parading the suspects said they were apprehended after kidnapping three persons along Oda road in Akure during a night operation while it was raining. According to Adeleye, the suspects initially kidnapped four persons, but one person was able to escape while they took the rest of them to their hideout. He said after getting wind of the incident, Amotekun operatives swung into action and rescued two persons that night, and subsequently arrested the suspects during negotiations for ransom. Adeleye disclosed that a gun, cutlass, dagger, and a motorcycle were recovered from the suspects and assured the law-abiding residents of the state of adequate security of their lives and property.
