Youths Reject Proposed LCDAs In Akure For Lopsidedness

  1. population, land mass, housing units, utilities and public facilities.
  2. Akure North with one of the biggest land mass and Akure South with the biggest population and largest contribution to the economy of the state deserve more LCDAs as both LGs are crucial to the development of the State.
  3. If the aim of the creation of the LCDAs is to bring development closer to the grassroots, then citing the headquarters of the new LCDA from Akure North in Oba-Ile, which an urban area, defeats such aim when there are less developed communities like Ilu-Abo, Igbatoro, Igoba, etc.
  4. The map of the State has been balkanised to cede various parts of Akure to other communities and this will not be accepted.
  5. The idea of equalling the unequals by creating same number of LCDAs in the three senatorial districts of the State without taking into consideration the various factors listed in (2) above is against the rule of fairness and equity.
  6. Akure, the State capital, should therefore be granted a Special Status and given the number of LCDAs as recommended to the government committee by the community.

It is therefore imperative that we urge the government that the relative peace of Akure, the state capital, should not be threatened in any way, as this exercise, as it currently is, is capable of creating restiveness in the system. Akure community has been a good host to this government and the people of Ondo State. It therefore should be given its dues.

Ondo Amotekun Arrests Four-Man Kidnap Syndicate In Akure

  Officials of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun have arrested a four-man kidnap syndicate in Akure, the state capital. The commander of Amotekun in the state, Adetunji Adeleye, while parading the suspects said they were apprehended after kidnapping three persons along Oda road in Akure during a night operation while it was raining. According to Adeleye, the suspects initially kidnapped four persons, but one person was able to escape while they took the rest of them to their hideout. He said after getting wind of the incident, Amotekun operatives swung into action and rescued two persons that night, and subsequently arrested the suspects during negotiations for ransom. Adeleye disclosed that a gun, cutlass, dagger, and a motorcycle were recovered from the suspects and assured the law-abiding residents of the state of adequate security of their lives and property. APC Congress: Ondo lawmaker, group accuse Akeredolu of imposition

The lawmaker representing the Ifedore / Idanre federal constituency, at the House of Representatives, Hon. Bamidele Baderinwa,  on Thursday , alleged the  Ondo state governor, Mr Rotimi Akeredolu, of scheming to impose candidates at the ward congress of the All Progressives Congress (APC) holding  on Saturday . Also, some interest groups within the state APC said the governor and the Acting Chairman of the party in the state, Mr Ade Adetimehin has concluded arrangements to disenfranchise some members of the party in order to pave the way for their anointed candidates at the forthcoming ward congress.
