Gov. Akeredolu Of Ondo To Conduct Local Govt Election With N2 Billion

G overnor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has budgeted the sum of N2 billion for the conduct of elections into the 18 local government areas of the state, Sahara Reporters can report. The huge allocation for the local election was contained in the details of the 2018 budget of the state, as released by the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget. Our correspondent exclusively obtained electronic copies of the budget document in Akure, the state capital. The N2 billion was listed under the ‘new projects’ head in the section of Reform of Government and Governance (General) in the budget as signed into law by Governor Akeredolu. Ondo’s 18 local government areas have a total of 302 political wards. Mr. Akeredolu had on 22, December, 2017 presented N171, 267, 913, 000 billion 2018 budget proposal to the State House of Assembly, but the total sum was later raised to N181, 424, 540, 283 billion. Ondo to begin implementation of Land Use Charge

THE Ondo State government has disclosed that it will soon commence the implementation of Land Use Charge law in the state. The Commissioner for Finance, Wale Akinterinwa, who chaired a meeting with stakeholders across the state, described the Land Use Charge as a veritable and legal revenue generation means for the government. Akinterinwa noted the state government’s readiness “to drive the programme with inputs from all stakeholders hence the engagement.” He, however, sought their support “to help create effective awareness among their people so that the good intention of the government will not be misinterpreted.” He said: “The government will continue to hold more consultations until there is an acceptable template for the government, the people and relevant stakeholders.” On his part, state chairman of the Board of Internal Revenue, Tolu Adegbile said the administration of the law would begin as soon as the proposal for implementation is approved by governor Rotimi Akered

Ondo football agency workers protest over 20 months’ salaries

Ondo State Football Agency workers on Thursday protested against the failure of the body to pay them their 20 months ’ salaries . The agency is in charge of Premier League side Sunshine Stars, Rising Stars and Sunshine Queens . The protesters , who gathered at the gate at the Governor’ s Office , Alagbaka , Akure , carried placards with various inscriptions such as , ‘ Due to unpaid salaries , workers’ marriages have broken up ’ and ‘ ODSFA pay our 20 months’ salaries ’ . The leader of the group , Mr . Samuel Patani , claimed that some of his colleagues had died due to the failure of the agency to pay them . He also alleged that the money being received from the Ondo State Government by the agency was only being used to cater for Sunshine Stars with other workers neglected . Akure Community Rejects Proposed Annex Status For State’s Specialist Hospital

Leaders of Akure the Ondo State capital has rejected the proposal by the implementation committee on health institutions in the state that proposed an annex status for the State Specialist Hospital in the ancient town. The Sensitization and Mobilization sub-committee of the main Integration Committee had met with the Akure community at the Deji’s Palace during its maiden outing to engage them on the desire of the State Government at bringing the institutions under the auspices of the University of Medical Sciences, UNIMED, Ondo. The sub-Committee, led by its Chairman, Mr. Alaba Isijola said the Committee was set up by the Ondo State governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu to interface with the people on the proposed integration so as to have their inputs and appropriately accommodate such into the final decision of government. Deji directs traditional ruler to key into Akure development plan

Deji of Akureland, Oba Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo As part of efforts to turn Akure to a modern city,  the Deji of Akureland, Oba Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo, has called for the development of lands and properties in communities around the capital city of Ondo state. To this end, the traditional head of Olokuta community in Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State, the Olu of Olokuta, Chief Olatunbosun Miller,  has called on landowners and farmers in the area to show evidence of ownership of their lands. Miller said the verification became imperative in order to intimate landowners on steps taken by the community heads to develop their domains. He said the effort was to complement Governor Rotimi Akeredolu’s strides in turning Akure to a mega city and wade off undesirable elements who have been extorting money from unsuspecting landowners.

Ondo To Spend N50b On Road Rehabilitation – Commissioner

On March 20, 2018  Ondo State government has said it had earmarked about N50 billion in the 2018 budget for rehabilitation of roads in the state toward making them free of potholes. 85 Students Graduate With First Class From FUTA

No fewer than 85 graduands emerged in the First Class category at the 28th convocation of Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), on Saturday. The Vice Chancellor of FUTA, Adebiyi Daramola, a professor, said 4,790 graduands of various academic programmes graduated in the 2015/2016 academic session. Mr. Daramola said 1,044 graduands had second class upper division, 1,274 emerged in the second class lower division while 453 and 33 graduands had third class and pass degree respectively. The vice chancellor, who broke the figures into various academic programmes, said 68 graduands were for diploma programme, 2,889 for bachelors degree and 954 graduands and 767 graduands for post graduate programme and Masters of Technology respectively. According to him, 112 students had Ph.D degree. The vice chancellor enjoined the graduands to be good ambassadors of the school, saying they should impact positively their world.
