BREAKING: Federal lawmaker, Adedayo Omolafe, is dead

Tragedy has struck in the early hours of today, Monday, following the sudden death of the lawmaker representing Akure South/Akure North Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon Adedayo Omolafe. DAILY POST gathered that the House of Representatives member, popularly called Expensive, died around 2 am on Monday. According to one of his close allies, the lawmaker was not sick as he was with his constituents on Sunday. He added that he died in his home in Akure, the state capital. “Expensive was not sick, we were still together yesterday (Sunday) morning, this is so sad, a terrible blow dealt on Akure,” he said. Deji Installs New Igbo Leader in Akure, Abolishes Eze Ndigbo Title

 The Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi has installed a new igbo leader for the igbo community in Akure Kingdom. Oba Aladetoyinbo who had earlier approved the appointment of Chief Umenweke Titus about a year ago finally performed the traditional installation of the new igbo leader at a ceremony held at the Ojukoto’s court of the Deji’s Palace. APPEAL COURT FIXES JUDGMENT DAY FOR JEGEDE, AKEREDOLU

 The Court of Appeal sitting in Akure, has Wednesday 16th of June, 2021 as judgement day in the appeal brought before it by candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Eyitayo Jegede, in the October 10, 2020 election. SUNSHINETRUTH learnt from a PDP source that the judgment date had been communicated to all parties. The three-man panel led by Justice Theresa Ngolika Orji-Abadua, had sat on the case after Jegede's counsel, Oyeachi Ikpeazu, SAN, had canvassed in his submission why Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu and his Deputy, Lucky Aiyedatiwa should be sacked saying they were not properly nominated by their party, the All Progressives Congress (APC). 105 doctors resign from Ondo workforce

 The Ondo State chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) has raised the alarm over the continued resignation of its members from the state government’s hospitals. It said 105 doctors have resigned in the last year. The Ondo NMA blamed the doctors’ action on what it termed irregular and percentage payment of salaries by the state government. This was contained in a statement signed by the Ondo NMA Chairman, Dr. Stella Adegbehingbe and Secretary, Dr. Olorunfemi Owa. The statement alleged that the state-owned Teaching Hospital, which had six to eight doctors now has two doctors. It noted that the dearth of doctors would make it impossible for the hospitals to function at a minimum acceptable level. Ondo bars Akure Monarch from installing minor Chiefs

  Ondo State Government has barred Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade, from installing Olus and Baales in some villages in Akure North local government area. Deji of Akure has been having a running battle with some villages in Akure North over appointing traditional leaders for them. Those in contestation with him are insisting that the influence of Deji of Akure ends on Akure South local government. Ondo Amotekun Arrests Four-Man Kidnap Syndicate In Akure

  Officials of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun have arrested a four-man kidnap syndicate in Akure, the state capital. The commander of Amotekun in the state, Adetunji Adeleye, while parading the suspects said they were apprehended after kidnapping three persons along Oda road in Akure during a night operation while it was raining. According to Adeleye, the suspects initially kidnapped four persons, but one person was able to escape while they took the rest of them to their hideout. He said after getting wind of the incident, Amotekun operatives swung into action and rescued two persons that night, and subsequently arrested the suspects during negotiations for ransom. Adeleye disclosed that a gun, cutlass, dagger, and a motorcycle were recovered from the suspects and assured the law-abiding residents of the state of adequate security of their lives and property.
