Ondo bars Akure Monarch from installing minor Chiefs

  Ondo State Government has barred Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Ogunlade, from installing Olus and Baales in some villages in Akure North local government area. Deji of Akure has been having a running battle with some villages in Akure North over appointing traditional leaders for them. Those in contestation with him are insisting that the influence of Deji of Akure ends on Akure South local government. The Ondo State government had in a letter dated April 19th, 2021 and signed by Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Segun Odunsoya, directed Oba Aladetoyinbo to stay away and maintain status quo over the appointment of minor chiefs at Ago Sonibare in Ala/Ajagbusi, Eleyewo Community, Ago-Ajapada in Ofosu Forest, Ago Tedibomi in Ala/Ajagbusi, Agunla Community in Ayede-Ogbese, Ilado/Elemo and Isinigbo, all in Akure North Local Government Area. Ondo Amotekun Arrests Four-Man Kidnap Syndicate In Akure

  Officials of the Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun have arrested a four-man kidnap syndicate in Akure, the state capital. The commander of Amotekun in the state, Adetunji Adeleye, while parading the suspects said they were apprehended after kidnapping three persons along Oda road in Akure during a night operation while it was raining. According to Adeleye, the suspects initially kidnapped four persons, but one person was able to escape while they took the rest of them to their hideout. He said after getting wind of the incident, Amotekun operatives swung into action and rescued two persons that night, and subsequently arrested the suspects during negotiations for ransom. Adeleye disclosed that a gun, cutlass, dagger, and a motorcycle were recovered from the suspects and assured the law-abiding residents of the state of adequate security of their lives and property. FG Reintroduces COVID-19 Restrictions, Shuts Bars, Recreational Centres, Limits Public Gatherings

 The Federal Government has reintroduced COVID-19 restrictions across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). This new directive is to take effect by midnight of Tuesday, a member of the Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) on COVID-19, Dr Mukhtar Mohammed, declared. Mohammed, who is the Head of Technical Secretariat of the PSC, made the announcement while briefing reporters on Monday in Abuja. With the restrictions imposed, mass gatherings in public spaces have been restricted to 50 people at any given time. Access to government institutions would also be denied to anyone not wearing a face mask while government meetings and travels have been limited to the virtual platform. According to Mohammed, the government has directed that bars and nightclubs should remain closed and the nationwide curfew will be in force until further notice.
